CFP: Grim October Spooktacular

trickortreat

Hallowe’en: a holiday, a state of mind, a lifestyle…and a damn good reason to talk about the things that go bump in the night!

Our October issue is traditionally a home for pieces that focus on the supernatural: hauntings, demonology, parapsychology, cryptozoology, aliens, spooky folklore, and the unexplained. For this issue, we are welcoming pitches that examine films, television, literature, and video games, both classic and contemporary, involving supernatural themes. We’re also looking for pieces that look at spooky pop culture, fashion, or history, and a short flash fiction piece (or a poem) with a paranormal theme.

We especially encourage pitches from writers who identify as female, nonbinary, trans, queer, or BIPOC.

Pitches may be submitted through the contact form until June 30th. Please include a brief description of your proposed piece and an estimated word count. (If you’ve not worked with Grim before, please include a link to at least one writing sample.)

Writers whose pitches are accepted will be contacted via email. If your pitch is accepted, final drafts will be due by August 15th. (This is a hard deadline, as putting a magazine together in between two jobs is a lot of work and sticking to deadlines helps make it a lot easier on our end. Thank you for understanding!)

We look forward to hearing what you have to say! Thank you for helping us stay spooky!

xx
